2025 Board Elections
It’s time for our annual Board of Directors Election! This year we have five co-op owners running for election and we will fill THREE positions on our board. Please review each candidate’s information and cast your vote in our online voting booth, powered by Online Voting Services. You may vote for UP TO THREE candidates. Your vote is important and it’s a vital part of your ownership of Roanoke Co+op. When you are ready to vote, log in using your owner number and last name at www.vote.roanoke.coop.
Each owner received a letter in the mail with your owner number and last name for log in purposes.
Deadline for online voting is 7 PM. on May 18, 2025 during Annual Owners’ Social and Meeting.
We will accept paper ballots at both co-op locations until Friday, May 16. To get a paper ballot, please ask any cashier, download it here or call 540-904-5700 ext 3.

2025 Election Candidates
Allison Campbell
Allison Campbell is a Roanoke native who is passionate about community. Her diverse experiences in the worlds of legal and management consulting, holistic wellness, and neighborhood services have provided a strong foundation from which to serve as part of the co-op board. Whether through supporting local farmers and businesses, advocating for sustainable practices, or sharing a meal and conversation, she hopes to inspire others to see the potential in their shared neighborhoods and to recognize the power of practical grassroots movements in creating lasting impact. A believer in strong self as the foundation of strong community, Allison is a craniosacral therapy practitioner and a barre and yoga teacher.
Brent Cochran
Brent Cochran (Incumbent) is the CEO of a local real estate company focused on the redevelopment of historic buildings within the region. He’s the founder of the non-profit LEAP, which is cultivating sustainable agriculture in Roanoke. He has served on the co-op board since 2017 and owns or co-owns a variety of small businesses. Brent is a graduate of Patrick Henry High School, Hampden Sydney College, and Pinchot University where he earned an MBA in Sustainable Business. A native of Roanoke and lifelong member of Roanoke Co+op, Brent came to the store when he was a baby when his mom volunteered. Brent lives in Raleigh Court with his wife and two children.
Ian Fortier
Ian Fortier (Incumbent) is the Executive Director of the Grandin Theatre Foundation and has served on the board of Roanoke Co+op since 2013. In addition, he served as the President of the Grandin Village Business Association for 3 years. Ian is an active member of the co-op board, and has served on the Nominating Committee, ensuring healthy future leadership. He enjoys community activism, tree climbing, mountain biking, ice hockey, making stained glass, and living in the Blue Ridge Mountains with his wife Mariana, his son Alex, and his daughter Julia Bay.
Gayle Havens
Gayle Havens (Incumbent) has served on the Board of Directors at Roanoke Co+op since 2007 as both treasurer and president. She studied at the University of North Carolina – Greensboro and Wheeling Jesuit College, graduating with a degree in Business and passing the CPA exam. She helped develop and manage Cellular One’s build-out of cellular service in southern West Virginia, before returning to graduate school at University of Virginia to study philosophy and environmental ethics. Gayle enjoys art history and studio art as well as painting for her art business.
kathryn Keefer
Kathryn Keefer is a passionate advocate for sustainable food systems and community engagement. A certified Integrative holistic wellness coach and breathwork facilitator, she brings over 15 years of experience in personal health, spirituality, and wellness. Kathryn is excited about the opportunity to contribute her skills in wellness and holistic health, as well as public speaking, coaching, and community connection, to further the mission of Roanoke Co+op. She enjoys hiking, community events and performing with Opera Roanoke. Kathryn also loves baking whole, vibrant meals for her family, and going on adventures with her husband and two daughters.
